Franks
opened
BonnyNook
Inn
in
Waxahachie
in
1989.
Since
that
time,
they
have
had
visitors
from
around
the
world.
The
Inn
has
been
featured
in
all
manner
of
media
including
Texas
Highways,
Forbes
and
Bon
Appetite.
The
BonnyNook
has
five
guest
rooms.
The
1887
Queen
Anne
Victorian
painted
lady
has
a
mix
of
high
quality
European
antiques
with
modern
baths,
featuring
two-person
whirlpool
tubs.
For
those
who
want
to
truly
indulge
there
is
a
seven-course
dinner
for
two
in
a
private
dining
room.
A
massage
in
your
room
is
available
upon
request.
The
Inn
is
well
known
but
so
are
the
Franks.
They
have
become
an
influence
within
the
B&B
industry
in
Texas.
On
the
local
level,
they
were
recipients
of
the
Marble
Frame
Award
for
tourist
development
by
the
Waxahachie
Chamber
of
Commerce
(1995).
The
Franks
have
been
called
upon
to
speak
at
various
workshops
and
conferences
for
Historic
Accommodations
of
Texas,
Texas
Department
of
Commerce,
and
the
Texas
Hotel
&
Motel
Association.
Vaughn
has
been
involved
with
many
of
the
industry
changes
that
have
taken
place
in
the
last
few
years,
by
serving
on
committees
and
boards
of
state
associations
in
the
development
of
standards,
establishing
an
inspection
program,
marketing
and
education.
The
Franks
have
conducted
workshops
and
seminars
on
“How
to
Find
a
Great
B&B,”
“Marketing
Your
B&B,”
and
“How
to
Start
&
Operate
a
B&B.”
This
road
show
has
been
all
over
the
state.
They
have
shared
their
experience
with
more
than
1000
individuals.
Since
they
have
started
teaching
and
writing
manuals,
more
than
40
of
the
participants
have
become
innkeepers,
inn
managers
or
inn
sitters.
Another
aspect
of
their
business
is
Smart
Survey
Systems
(SSS),
which
conducts
marketing
surveys,
workshops,
seminars,
feasibility
studies
and
consulting
services.
Memberships
include
Professional
Association
of
Innkeepers,
Texas
Hotel
&
Motel
Association,
Waxahachie
Chamber
of
Commerce
and
the
Dallas/Ft.
Worth
Area
Tourist
Council.
Outside
of
the
lodging
industry
and
in
prior
lifetimes,
Bonnie
is
a
sociologist
and
grants
writer
while
Vaughn
spent
most
of
his
time
in
the
engineering
department
of
Texas
Utilities
and
support
for
network
systems.
Bonnie
likes
to
putter
around
in
the
garden
while
Vaughn’s
prime
interest
outside
of
the
Inn
is
photography.
They
both
enjoy
going
to
the
theater
and
